signal:noize is a new project from Melbourne producer Nick Thayer. Showing that his musical influences draw upon an array of genres, signal:noize effortlessly blends the sounds of UK garage, 2 step, house, and breakbeat into a fusion that stands alone. After a debut release, Trunk, with Jay Fay on OWSLA’s sister label, The Nest, signal:noize keeps this beast rolling with a four track EP, Home, charged with no-nonsense grooves. Title track Home recalls techno in its arrangement, with a warping bassline that refuses to sit still. Rudeboy has guts in excess, Tomorrow strips things back to the bare minimum, and Control Your Mind just oozes attitude. With a collaboration with SBCR / Bloody Beetroots about to drop, and a remix for Felix Cartal, there’s certainly no easing off the gas here. Turn up the signal. Wipe out the noize.
